Dozens of ScotRail services have been cancelled as Scots prepare to travel over the festive period.
On Monday, the train operator revealed a number of services across the country had been cancelled due to staff members self-isolating.
The cancellations include a number of commuter services between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
David Ross from ScotRail said: “We’re sorry to our customers who are being inconvenienced as a result of an increase in the number of our staff self-isolating due to Covid.
“We are working flat out to run a safe and reliable railway in difficult circumstances.”
In a tweet, the company advised customers to check journeys before travelling.
It comes as Scots are preparing to travel to see loved ones in the run up to Christmas.
Despite rising Covid case numbers in the wake of new variant Omicron, the Scottish Government has not enforced travel restrictions over the festive period.
The First Minister has instead urged Scots to exercise caution and limit the number of social contacts they have in the coming days.
Meanwhile Professor Jason Leitch told STV News it is still too early to introduce tighter measures as scientists do not have enough data about the new variant.
He said information gathered about Omicron over the Christmas period will determine whether tougher Covid restrictions are needed in Scotland.
Prof Leitch told STV News: “There are a number of things that could happen, most of which depend on the data we need to see what happens to the pandemic and to the science of the pandemic.
“So it’s not just about Scotland’s numbers, it’s about what we learn about severity of disease, vaccine escape over the next few days and weeks.”
