Guidance for Britons to avoid travelling overseas has been extended “indefinitely”.
The Foreign Office was previously advising against all trips until April 16, but updated its coronavirus guidance over the weekend.
It first advised against “non-essential” overseas travel on March 17 – initially for a period of 30 days.
Many holidaymakers are now likely to have their plans cancelled by operators.
“We now advise against all non-essential global travel – indefinitely,” the Foreign Office said in a video posted online.
“The situation is changing rapidly. Travellers could face severe disruption and be unable to return to the UK.’
