TwitterFurther freezing temperatures, snow and ice are expected in parts of central and northern Scotland as the cold snap continues.
The mercury is expected to drop in some areas to -15C on Friday morning.
The Met Office said it was unlikely that any record low temperatures would be set in the coming days, with slightly milder conditions expected over the weekend.
It comes as Braemar in Aberdeenshire recorded a temperature of -23C on Wednesday night, the lowest in the UK since 1995.
The “extreme freeze” also saw the mercury plummet elsewhere, with the likes of Kinbrace and Strathallan recording -21.3C and -18.2C respectively.
Fifteen weather stations across the UK also recorded their lowest-ever temperatures for February overnight on Wednesday.
Yellow weather warnings for snow and ice remain in place across parts of Scotland.
The Met Office said the snow showers will not be as heavy or frequent as they have been over the past few days, but warned they may bring disruption to travel.
Those heading out have been advised to expect delays and longer journey times as roads and railways are “likely to be affected”.
Scots are also being warned to watch out for untreated roads, icy pavements and cycle paths.
