From Irvine Beach to Loch Lomond - looking back at Oasis in Scotland

The Manchester super-band will make their long-awaited return to a Scottish stage.

Oasis is set to make their long-awaited return to Scotland, 16 years since their last gig north of the border.

As the country prepares to Slide Away into three sold-out shows with the band at Murrayfield, STV has delved into the archive.

Unearthed footage from between 1994 to 2005 shows Liam discussing his trepidation about performing two nights at Glasgow’s Cathouse and the band’s sell-out gigs at Irvine Beach in a Big Top circus tent.

In 1996, Oasis fans queued for the final tickets to two controversial open-air gigs in Balloch, on the banks of Loch Lomond.

Both Noel and Liam have a soft spot for Scotland ever since the band was signed in 1993 to Creation Records after being seen by Alan McGee at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow.

The band is due to begin their three-day run at Murrayfield stadium on August 8 before returning on August 9 and August 12.
