NHS 24 has advised Scots only to use its 111 telephone service if they are in need of urgent care as it is experiencing a technical problem.
The service has asked the public to seek health advice from NHSinform.scot instead when appropriate.
A spokesperson said on Facebook: “NHS 24 is currently experiencing a technical issue affecting the 111 service.
“Our teams are working urgently to resolve the situation and restore full functionality. Please only call 111 if you are in need of urgent care.
“Anyone requiring non-urgent care can access health advice at NHSinform.scot or visit their local pharmacy.
“In life or limb threatening emergencies, call 999. We apologise for the disruption and thank the public for their patience.”
