Packs of cured meat have been pulled from shelves over fears it has been contaminated with Listeria bacteria.

British Bresaola from The Curing Barn has been recalled by the Food Standards Agency after Listeria monocytogenes were found in the product.

The recall notice is for 60g packs of the cured meat with the use by date of June 10, 2026.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause symptoms similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.

In rare cases, infection can be more severe and cause serious complications, including meningitis.

People over the age of 65, pregnant woman and their unborn babies, babies less than a month old and people with weakened immune systems are more vulnerable to listeria infections.

The FSA has warned the public not to eat the product and instead return it to the store it was purchased from for a full refund.
