STV NewsPartick Thistle’s stadium has been targeted by vandals ahead of Thursday night’s clash between Scotland and Israel.
Anti-Israel graffiti has been scrawled on Firhill Stadium’s walls after the Glasgow side hosted the Israeli national team this week for training ahead of the match at Hampden Park.
A clean-up operation is now under way to remove the red blotches of paint and the words “Palestinian blood”.
STV NewsPartick Thistle said it was “extremely disappointed” over the vandalism, which happened during the early hours of Thursday morning.
A spokesperson said: “We are extremely disappointed that our stadium has been vandalised in this way. The matter is now in the hands of police.
“For many years, we have made Firhill available for hire when requested by the Scottish FA – this not only helps visiting international teams, but it provides valuable income to Thistle.
“Until now this facility has been utilised by those without any issue, which only makes this unwarranted vandalism even more disappointing.”
Police said enquiries into the attack are ongoing.
A force spokeswoman said: “We received a report of vandalism at Firhill Stadium, Glasgow, around 12.10am on Thursday, October 8.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
