An advertising campaign urging people to go vegan for the planet is being launched by animal rights campaigners in Glasgow.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has plastered the new ad – with a message which reads; ‘you can’t be a meat-eating environmentalist’ – on the sides of around half a dozen buses in the city centre.

The ads, coinciding with the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, will run until November 14.

PETA senior campaigns manager Kate Werner described the campaign as a “wake-up call”.

“The UN has stated that a global shift to vegan eating is necessary to combat the worst effects of climate change,” she said.

“PETA’s ad blitz is a wake-up call to anyone who can look at a plate of sausage or black pudding without considering the environmental impact of these foods – or the animals who suffered for them.”
