Police Scotland’s emergency phone lines were hit by a global outage on Friday evening, with delays in answering 999 calls.
The force said around 6pm on Friday, a global internet platform issue created challenges for police in being able to answer 101 and 999 calls.
The connectivity issue caused delays for around 90 minutes and is said to have impacted multiple organisations.
Members of the public who dialled 101 or 999 during the blackout are being assured that an appropriate policing response will be issued.
A Police Scotland statement read: “Back-up processes were quickly implemented, and 999 calls were prioritised during this time.
“This issue impacted multiple organisations and we continue to work with the relevant agencies to understand the full circumstances of this matter, and to ensure anyone who contacted us via 101 or 999 receives an appropriate policing response.”
