Keir Starmer to hold first PMQs since death of former MP Alex Salmond

The Prime Minister will take questions from MPs and is expected to pay tribute to the former first minister.

Keir Starmer will hold his first Prime Ministers Questions since the death of former Scottish first minister and Westminster MP Alex Salmond.

The Prime Minister is expected to pay tribute to the former SNP leader, who died on Saturday in North Macedonia following a massive heart attack.

The 69-year-old was taking part in a youth cultural and diplomatic event in the city of Ohrid.

Starmer will likely face questions from MPs on the upcoming Budget, after refusing to rule out an increase in national insurance on Tuesday.

Fury over the amount of freebies Sir Keir has accepted since taking office has also continued this week, after it emerged he met pop superstar Taylor Swift with his family after accepting free tickets to her Wembley gig on August 20.

It comes amid questions over UK Government intervention in talks over the security for the concerts after Swift was given a taxpayer-funded police escort.

Downing Street has cited the terror threat faced by Swift in Vienna, which forced her to cancel gigs on the Austrian leg of her Eras tour, as one of the reasons the Government was involved in security talks for her London shows.
