The Scottish Prison Service is investigating complaints that a senior manager allegedly clapped along to pro-IRA chants at a pub.

A video shared on social media appears to show the senior member of staff clapping his hands as a man on the stage with a guitar sings “up the ‘RA”.

STV News understands that complaints have been made to the Scottish Prison Service about the senior manager’s alleged behaviour.

An investigation is understood to be under way as part of the prison service’s standard procedure.

The Scottish Prison Service said it would not comment on individuals, but it “expects the highest standards of behaviour” from employees.

A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “We do not comment on individuals.

“We expect the highest standards of behaviour from our staff, and will treat seriously and investigate any complaints made.”
