Another 154 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Scotland in the last 24 hours – as concern grows over the virus spreading in Glasgow.
The figure, revealed in the latest Scottish Government data, represents 1.2% of newly tested individuals.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said there was “some concern” that 66 of the new cases were in the Greater Glasgow area.
She added: “Further analysis is under way, and I will be chairing a meeting of the Resilience Committee late this afternoon to consider what action may be necessary.
“I will provide a further update after that.”
There have been no new deaths recorded among people who have tested positive for the virus.
On Monday, the country recorded 160 new cases – the highest figure since 187 on May 16.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the increase was “undoubtedly a concern to us”.
The official death toll stands at 2494, however weekly figures on suspected Covid-19 deaths suggest the most up-to-date total is now 4224.
