Scotland has recorded another 221 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
However, there have been no reported deaths among those who have tested positive.
It is the highest daily figure since May 8, when 225 cases were recorded. The latest tally represents 2.8% of newly individuals.
A total of 106 of the cases were in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board, while Lanarkshire recorded 48 of the cases. There were also 35 in Lothian.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted on Saturday morning: “Covid is on the rise again across the UK and Europe.
“Keeping it under control requires care and vigilance from all of us.
“And bluntly, it means restricting as far as possible our interactions with other households.”
Those who live in Glasgow, East or West Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and North or South Lanarkshire have been told not to visit other households.
There is currently a ban on indoor household gatherings in these council areas.
On Thursday it was confirmed social gatherings across Scotland, whether indoors or outdoors, will be limited to six people in a tightening of restrictions.
Those six are from a maximum of two households, with the rule applying both in people’s homes and also public places, including cafes, bars or restaurants.
Children under 12 from either of the two households do not count towards that total of six. The rules will come into force on Monday.
