Scotland will be split by sunshine and rain as high temperatures return for some this weekend.
While the north and west will see cloudy and showery conditions, across central and southern areas increasingly dominant high pressure means drier and sunnier weather.
“For this upcoming weekend it’s a mixture of good news and bad news,” said STV weather presenter Philip Petrie.
“Towards the weekend high pressure continues to build in across the country, and that gives us dry and bright conditions from the central belt southwards, however across the top of the high pressure we see further fronts skirting the north – and unfortunately further spells of heavy rain here over the weekend.
“In the best of the brighter conditions we’ll see temperatures going up through Saturday and Sunday, with highs of 21C in the far North-East.
“So it’s a mixed bag to come over the weekend but as we head into the new working week we’ll see increasing amounts of sunshine and therefore temperatures continuing to climb.”
