iStockWeather warnings have been issued by the Met Office with parts of Scotland due to be battered by 80mph winds this weekend.
The forecaster has issued two yellow weather alerts for Saturday between 7am and 9pm when the blustery conditions are expected.
Strong winds are likely to disrupt travel on roads, as well as rail, air, and ferry transport.
It added that a busier-than-usual travel period in the run-up to Christmas may increase the chance of impacts.
The first warning covers the Highlands, Orkney Islands and Argyll and Bute.
In these areas, very strong westerly winds are expected to develop through the course of Saturday in association with a deep area of low pressure, with gusts of 65 to 75mph expected.
Forecasters said there is a “small chance that injuries and danger to life” could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties.
The Met Office added there is a small chance that gusts in excess of 80mph could occur across this region.
The second warning covers Stirling, Aberdeenshire, Moray, the Highlands, Dumfries and Galloway, and Strathclyde.
As the windy conditions continue, coastal communities, routes, and those near the sea fronts are likely to be affected by spray and large waves.
The Met Office said that strong westerly winds are expected to develop throughout Saturday, with gusts reaching 50-60mph widely.
