Much of Scotland is set to be battered by heavy downpours this weekend as the Met Office warned of a ‘danger to life’ due to fast water and flooding.
A yellow weather warning covering the majority of the country will come into force from midnight on Saturday through to 6am on Sunday, with parts of the Highlands, Aberdeenshire and the central belt affected.
The Met Office said up to 150mm of rain could fall in some areas and there is a danger to life over fast-flowing or deep floodwater.
Flooding and spray on roads could lead to difficult driving conditions, and there could be possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.
Traffic Scotland has warned some roads may close due to flooding from Friday to Saturday, and have issued safety advice online for drivers, while disruption to public transport services is to be expected.
ScotRail has urged passengers to keep up to date with disruptions to services online and on social media.
