Scotland’s economic output has risen above the pre-pandemic level for the first time.
Official statistics indicate that the figure is 0.6% above the level it was in February 2020.
The country’s onshore GDP is also estimated to have grown by 0.8% in November last year.
It marks the third consecutive monthly increase in GDP after more subdued results for July and August.
In the construction sector, which accounts for around 6% of the economy, is estimated to have grown by 3.6% in November.
Services sector output, accounting for roughly three quarters of the economy, saw growth of 0.5% in the same period.
The production sector, which makes up 6% of the economy, is estimated to have grown by 3.6%.
Scottish Secretary Alister Jack said the UK Government is continuing to support people and businesses across the UK to ensure a strong recovery from the Covid pandemic.
“It’s encouraging to see Scotland’s economy growing again, as we start to build back from the pandemic,” he said.
“The UK Government is continuing to support people and businesses in all parts of the UK to help ensure a strong recovery.
“In addition, we are investing in communities right across Scotland, including through £191m in direct UK Government grants and £1.5bn being invested in Scottish Growth Deals.
“And the UK Government’s multi-billion pound Plan For Jobs is working, with more people in jobs than before the pandemic.
“Our Levelling Up White paper, to be published shortly, will set out how we will ensure all parts of the UK thrive and prosper.”
