ScotRail workers are set to take strike action during the Scottish National Party’s annual conference.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union will strike on October 10.
The SNP’s party conference is being held from Saturday, October 8, through to the Monday in Aberdeen.
The RMT had already announced that more than 40,000 of its members from Network Rail and 15 train operating companies in the UK will walk out on October 8.
However, the action taken on October 10 will impact upon ScotRail specifically.
It marks the latest strike action on British rail this year following a summer of disruption to services.
Unions have called for a pay rise for workers in the face of the cost of living crisis.
“As no new offer has been tabled, our members have no choice but to continue this strike action,” RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said of the national action being taken on October 8.
“We will continue to negotiate in good faith but the employers and government need to understand our industrial campaign will continue for as long as it takes.”
