A bin lorry driver has been accused of causing the death of a schoolgirl by dangerous driving.
Elizabeth Bell, 11, suffered critical injuries after being struck by the lorry, operated by Scottish Borders Council, near her home in 2024.
The incident happened at a junction on the A6105 Greenlaw to Gordon road in Berwickshire shortly after 8am on January 31.
The Earlston Primary School pupil was airlifted to the Royal Hospital for Children in Edinburgh for treatment but died a week later.
David Maxwell, from Galashiels, Selkirkshire, appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
The 35-year-old made no plea to a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
The case was continued for further examination and he was granted bail.
