Scottish teacher caught with child abuse images on mobile phone struck off

A teacher caught with child abuse images on his phone, who discussed indecent images and videos of an 11-year-old girl on a chat network, has been struck off.

The Scottish teacher was hauled before the General Teaching Council over a number of allegations relating to child sex abuse images, which the man admitted to in full.

The unnamed teacher, who was employed as a teacher at an unnamed school at the time of the offences, was found to have indecent images on his mobile phone between December 5 and December 7, 2021.

On December 5, 2021, the teacher engaged in a conversation on the instant messaging app Kik, in which he discussed indecent images and videos of an 11-year-old girl with another user.

During the conversation, he made lewd references to the girl.

He also shared a link to a file-sharing platform which contained indecent images of children.

The GTC said the teacher’s actions were sexually motivated.

The teacher waived his right to further adjudication proceedings and agreed to be struck from the register.
