iStockPolice have arrested a gender-critical feminist in connection with alleged fraud offences.
Marion Millar, 49, became a high-profile figure in Scotland as a leading critic of transgender law reform.
The accountant from Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, has been released on an undertaking that she will appear at court at a later date.
Police also arrested and charged Noel McIntyre, 40, in connection with the case.
Last year, police revealed they had “received a number of reports relating to potentially fraudulent activity”, with inquiries launched to “establish the full circumstances”.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 49-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man have been arrested and charged with alleged fraud offences.
“They have been released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A spokesperson for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said: “The Procurator Fiscal has received a report concerning a 49-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man in connection with alleged offences said to have occurred in Airdrie between January 2017 and May 2021.
“The report remains under consideration.”
