Nicola Sturgeon is making a Covid announcement as cases of the Omicron variant continue to rise across Scotland.
The First Minister is holding a briefing along with chief medical officer Dr Gregor Smith at 12.15pm on Friday.
The announcement comes as new coronavirus guidance for workplaces and businesses was introduced across Scotland on Friday morning.
Sturgeon has also urged people to “stay at home” more and reduce their contact with other households in the run up to Christmas.
She asked for the number of households socialising at one time to be limited to three.
Sturgeon told MSPs on Thursday she was “profoundly concerned” by the scale of the challenge posed by the Omicron variant.
She said the variant is likely to be the dominant strain of coronavirus in Scotland from Friday.
