Nicola Sturgeon is making a statement on Covid to MSPs at Holyrood.
It marks the final parliamentary statement from the First Minister on the virus before Christmas.
It is understood that Sturgeon will announce that sporting events in Scotland will be limited to 500 spectators from Boxing Day.
The move will significantly reduce the number of fans that will be able to attend Celtic Park in the New Year for the first match between Celtic and Rangers in 2022.
People in Scotland have already been urged to reduce contact with other households as much as possible in the run up up to Christmas.
