Which Post Offices in Scotland will be forced to close due to strikes?iStock

Post Office workers are set to go on strike next month following a “woefully inadequate” pay offer by bosses.

Staff at 114 Crown Post Offices, which are the larger branches often seen on the high street, will walk out on July 11.

The move will see more than 100 branches close to the public as members of the Communication Worker Union (CWU) fight for a better wage increase.

Union members branded the tabled 3% wage rise and £500 lump sum payment for all staff “callous,” citing efforts as key workers during the Covid shutdown.

They added soaring rates of inflation – which are predicted to hit more than 11% by the end of the year – amounted to a “real terms pay cut” despite the firm making profits of more than £35m during the 2020/21 financial year.

The union is balloting Royal Mail and Parcel Force members next week, who are also likely to vote in favour of industrial action when the result is announced on July 19.

Which branches are set to close in Scotland?

Dozens of Post Offices are set to close across the UK during strike action, with ten of those in Scotland.

Three branches will close in Edinburgh, with two planned to shut in Glasgow and one in Inverness.

Rural areas will also be affected by the closures, with the Kirkwall branch in Orkney and the Stornoway store in the Western Isles also due to shut on July 11.
