Aberdeen will be allowed 5665 supporters in Pittodrie for their European tie against BK Hacken.
The Premiership club applied to the city council for the maximum number of fans allowed under the one metre social distancing rules.
And it was revealed on Friday that their request had been granted.
The Dons play the Swedish side in their first Europa Conference match on July 22.
The tie will also mean a return to Gothenburg, the location of Aberdeen’s finest moment when they beat Real Madrid to win the Cup Winners Cup in 1983.
Hacken qualified for Europe after finishing third in the Swedish top flight last season.
To secure the numbers at the home game, Aberdeen will have to ensure that supporters attending are able to provide proof of a negative lateral flow test and agree to adhere to all the procedures in place for this game.
Chairman Dave Cormack welcomed the news.
He said: “This is a major step in the right direction and we’re grateful to the local authority for working closely with us to get to this stage.
“Ideally, we wanted to be able to accommodate all our season ticket members. However, 5665 represents 73% of the 7800 season tickets sold to date.
“Based on our previous percentages of season ticket members take-up (55% to 60%) and the fact that some have indicated that they are not ready to attend games just yet, we believe we’ll be able to accommodate all who want to attend.”
