Aberdeen have booked their place in the League Cup semi-finals with a win over Ross County in Dingwall.

The 2-1 victory on Wednesday night is Barry Robson’s side second win over the Highlanders in four days after they also beat them in the Premiership at the weekend.

They will now travel to Glasgow for the last four encounter in November with a place in the final on the line.

Captain Graham Shinnie put them 1-0 up with a thunderbolt strike after only eight minutes as they looked to return to the semi-final for the second year running.

And they had one foot in the next round a few minutes later when their opponents were reduced to ten-men.

Robson rang the changes on the hour mark with Clarkson and Duncan replacing Duk and Hayes.

Ester Soklar made it 2-0 with ten minutes left on the clock before Kyle Turner pulled one back from the penalty spot just three minutes later to keep Malky Mackay’s men in it.

But Aberdeen held out for the win that puts them in the hat for the semi-final draw.

The result means Ross County’s seven-year wait for a return to the national stadium goes on as the Dons join Hearts, who beat Kilmarnock on Tuesday, and Hibs, who got the better of St Mirren in Edinburgh on Wednesday, in the draw for the next round.

Rangers and Livingston was the last game of the round with their game at Ibrox kicking off at 8pm, with the home side winning 4-0.

Aberdeen will now take on Hibs in the semis with Rangers coming up against Hearts.

Both games will take place at Hampden on the weekend of November 4th and 5th.
