Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin feels on-loan duo Kevin Nisbet and Oday Dabbagh could form a fruitful partnership after the latter netted his first goal for the club in the William Hill Premiership win over Kilmarnock.

The Palestine international fired home the only goal of the game in stoppage time, with Nisbet claiming an assist in knocking the ball down for substitute Dabbagh.

Asked if the pair could link up as a partnership, Thelin said “It can be.

“It’s important for a striker to score when they come to a new club. If you can wish a start, you wish that.

“However it’s also other things that are important for a striker to contribute to victories as a team, but the goals are important.

“Kevin has grown into the team and also with his fitness levels and how he competes. He can cope more and more in 90 minutes and take responsibility.

“Kevin is looking much sharper in how he helps us in the build-up and he also has the power left to go to the box.

“They can play as number nines or 10s or as two strikers. We can do it in the future – let’s see.”

Killie boss Derek McInnes feels his side are getting stronger – and healthier – as they approach the end of the season with designs on sealing a top-six spot.

McInnes said: “Kyle Magennis will be OK for Wednesday. We got him scanned last week and there was no damage to his knee, just a bit of swelling in the joint. We thought he would make training on Friday but there was still a bit of swelling and we opted not to put him through the travelling with the Rangers game coming up.

“We’re hoping to have Kyle Vassell back in training this week, so we’re getting a wee bit healthier and I think that shows in the performances and hopefully shows in the performances between now and the end of the season.

“We’ll not give up on the top six. I said before the game I thought four wins from seven games would cement it, three wins would give us a right good chance – and we’ve three home games out of the next five which we hope to make the most of.”
