Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin has been named as the Glen’s Premiership Manager of the Month for April, picking up the award for the third time this season.
Thelin steered his side through the month undefeated as the fight for European places hots up.
The Dons defeated Ross County 1-0, beat Hibernian by the same scoreline, as well as drawing 2-2 with Rangers. The month also saw Aberdeen defeat Hearts at Hampden to set up a Scottish Cup final date with Celtic.
Thelin said he had been enjoying an “exciting and emotional” first season with the club and hoped to deliver a real achievement in the campaign’s final weeks.
“I am very grateful to accept this award for the third time this season,” the manager said. “As I have said previously, we are all in this together at Aberdeen, so this award is recognition of the part that everyone has played and the work they have put in.
“It’s been an exciting journey so far and an emotional first year for me personally in Aberdeen.
“There is a good atmosphere around the club, and it feels like everybody shares the same vision for our future. We are clear about what we want to build here, we want Aberdeen to be a strong club, with a distinct identity and personality within the team.
“Although it is the first year, it was still important to be competitive, and we now want to achieve something in the first season together.
“There are three more difficult league games to come for us, but we have to believe, have to keep pushing and get as many points as we can.
“We then have the Scottish Cup final, which is a huge occasion. We are all really looking forward to going back to Hampden.
“It is going to be a very exciting few weeks for everyone involved with Aberdeen Football Club.”
Colin Matthews, chief executive of Glen’s owner the Loch Lomond Group, said: “Jimmy Thelin continues to impress with his leadership at Aberdeen, guiding the team through an unbeaten April that included significant victories and a hard-fought draw.
“The Pittodrie side’s resilience and tactical prowess have kept them firmly in contention for European qualification and this consistent performance makes Jimmy a deserving recipient of the Glen’s Manager of the Month award – his third such accolade this season. Congratulations to Jimmy and everyone at Aberdeen.”
