Aberdeen are poised to make their latest summer signing as midfielder Sivert Heltne Nilsen heads to Pittodrie for talks over a move to the Premiership club.
Agreement has been reached with Norwegian side Brann Bergen for their captain Heltne Nilsen to travel to Scotland to agree terms and, pending medical and international clearance, become Dons manager Jimmy Thelin’s newest recruit.
Heltne Nilsen played under the new Aberdeen boss for two years at Elfsborg and will add to the midfield options as Thelin looks to deliver progress at Pittodrie.
The 32-year-old has a wealth of experience, having played in his native Norway with Hødd, Valerenag and Brann, as well as stints with Danish side Horsens, Elfsborg in Sweden and Belgian side Waasland-Beveren.
Aberdeen have already made three signings this summer. Goalkeeper Dmitar Mitov has joined the club from St Johnstone, defender Gavin Molloy has been signed from Shelbourne and forward Peter Ambrose has arrived from Ujpest.
The Dons play their first competitive game of the season against Queen of the South in the Premier Sports Cup on Saturday.
