Aberdeen have revealed that they have granted permission for Peter Leven to talk to St Johnstone about their managerial vacancy.
The Dons first team coach impressed as interim manager at Pittodrie as the club waited for Jimmy Thelin to take charge, and he has admirers throughout the game.
Leven has been part of Thelin’s backroom team as Aberdeen have enjoyed a winning start to the season but he could now make the move to Perth.
“Peter has permission to talk to them,” Thelin said. “He is a good coach and it’s good that our staff have eyes on them.
“And then, it’s up to Peter.
“So far, so good, he’s focusing here and on our game tomorrow.”
The Swede admitted that he wanted to keep the coach as part of his staff and that he would be missed if he was appointed to a job elsewhere.
“Always if you are losing staff and players you would miss them, of course, and you’d have to find solutions for the future,” he said. “But when good people are doing good things they get eyes on them.
“We want him to stay here but it’s his decision. Its also good that he’s getting recognised.”
