Aberdeen have been granted permission to speak to St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson about their vacant manager position.
The Dons have been searching for a new manager since they sacked Jimmy Thelin in January.
The decision came off the back of a five-match winless run for Aberdeen, capped off by a defeat against Falkirk at the weekend.
Robinson has been the bookies’ favourite to replace Thelin, but previously said his head hadn’t been turned by the prospect.
But on Wednesday morning, Aberdeen revealed they had go the go-ahead to pursue the Buddies’ boss.
“Aberdeen FC has this morning been officially given permission to enter formal talks with St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson regarding the vacant managerial position,” a spokesperson said.
“The Club will provide an update in due course.”
St Mirren also confirmed the approach.
“Aberdeen have met a contractual clause in Stephen’s contract so the club has granted them permission to speak with him regarding the vacancy,” a club spokesperson said.
“We hope for a swift resolution to this matter and will keep supporters updated.”
