Aberdeen manager Barry Robson could not disguise his frustration after Saturday’s late postponement against Dundee but he may see a silver lining as the Dons prepare to host struggling Motherwell.
Aberdeen’s weekend was far from ideal, travelling to Dens Park only to be hit by a postponement about an hour before kick-off as referee David Munro deemed areas of the pitch to be waterlogged.
Dundee went on to train on the pitch while Robson’s squad travelled back up the A90.
The Dons were looking for a third consecutive cinch Premiership win for the first time this season.
But they can now achieve that against a Motherwell side whose run without a win stretched to 15 games on Christmas Eve when they lost 2-0 at home to Rangers.
With only Christmas Day and Boxing Day in between for Stuart Kettlewell to continue searching for the switch button to transform their fortunes, Aberdeen will go into the Pittodrie clash as clear favourites.
Robson said: “The frustration for us is that we were looking to get a third league win in a row and to start to build some momentum, but it’s yet another game called off for us that we’ll have to catch up on next year.
“There’s nothing positive to take from the day, we’ve prepared well, we were really looking forward to the game off the back of a win on Wednesday and we’re looking to claw some points back on teams above us.
“Instead we’ll have to wait for the Motherwell game now next. We had a good result against them earlier in the season, played well, and we will need to do that again.
“It’s hard to train much in Aberdeen because of the weather, but we’ll handle that.
“Given that we’ve had the busiest schedule of most of the league, maybe the extra break will help us a wee bit.”
