Alex Samuel has called on embattled Ross County to “step up” and show what they are made of as they prepare for Wednesday’s high-stakes showdown with Dundee at Dens Park.
The Staggies are currently in the relegation play-off spot, just three points ahead of last-placed St Johnstone, after a demoralising seven-game losing streak.
Victory at Dens Park, however, could be enough to ensure they avoid automatic relegation and would take them out of the bottom two and above Dundee ahead of Sunday’s final-day meeting with Motherwell.
“We just have to step up now,” striker Samuel said in a club interview. “We’re in a situation where this is it, Wednesday night, and we have to go out there with the shackles off and play to what we know we can.
“I think it’s really important for us not to panic because once you start panicking, it’s a slippery slope. We have to rise up to the challenge, step up and bring everything that we can against Dundee and then on Sunday.
“I know there’s so much capability in this team, we’ve just got to stop that losing run that we’re on. And hopefully it’s going to be a great celebration come Sunday and that we’re safe again.”
