Austin Samuels has left Aberdeen to return to parent club Wolves after his loan deal was ended.

The striker arrived in Aberdeen in August for what the club said would be a season-long loan with the Dons holding an option to buy the player.

Samuels has rarely featured in Stephen Glass’ side though, making only seven appearances and failing to find the net.

A brief statement on the club website read: “The club can confirm striker Austin Samuels has returned to Wolves, ending his loan spell with the Dons.

“Everyone at AFC wishes Austin all the very best for his future career.”

Midfielder Matty Longstaff returned to Newcastle United earlier in the window but Aberdeen recalled Connor Barron from his loan at Kelty Hearts.
