Auston Trusty has said he would be delighted if Martin O’Neill remained Celtic manager, describing his work this season as “really magical”.
The Celtic defender lifted his fourth trophy with the club since joining in August 2024 after goals from Daizen Maeda, Arne Engels and Kelechi Iheanacho sealed a 3-1 win over Dunfermline, after Josh Cooper had pulled one back for the Pars.
The USA international, who made 41 appearances in his second season in Glasgow, believes the double-winning Hoops boss has “earned the right” to decide his next move.
The centre-back said: “It’s fantastic. Like I said before, you don’t see too often 74-year-old coach coming back twice to save the day.
“So it’s really magical what he’s done by coming in and revitalising the group, and winning the double.
“I think he’s earned the right to decide whatever he wants to do. He’s had a tremendous career as a player and a tremendous career as a coach.
“In the fashion he’s won the league and won the cup today, he’s earned the right.”
