Blackburn Rovers defender Dom Hyam has been called up by Scotland for the first time, joining Steve Clarke’s squad for the games against Cyprus and Spain.
Jack Hendry’s withdrawal from the squad has prompted the manager to make two additions, with Celtic’s Anthony Ralston also meeting up with the group for the European Championship qualifiers.
Hyam has played for Scotland at Under-19 and Under-21 level but the 27-year-old has been out of the international picture for some time.
The former Reading and Coventry defender’s performances since joining Blackburn last year has caught the attention of Clarke and his staff and he will now compete for selection as Scotland look to make a positive start to their qualification campaign.
Ralston, who has six international caps, has only seen limited game time at Celtic since the arrival of Alistair Johnston but will add to Clarke’s options on the right alongside Nathan Patterson and Aaron Hickey.
