Blackburn’s Kristi Montgomery brought in to Scotland squad as duo withdraw

Blackburn midfielder Kristi Montgomery has been brought in to the Scotland squad ahead of Saturday’s Nations League opener in Slovenia.

The 22-year-old comes in as cover following the withdrawals of both Kenny McLean and Kieran Tierney.

The Scotland squad are currently training in La Manga as new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli prepares for his first game in charge.

After facing Slovenia, Scotland will take on Switzerland at Hampden Park before going to North Macedonia, then returning home for the reverse fixture against the Slovenians.

Tierney was withdrawn midway through Celtic’s Scottish Premiership defeat to Rangers on Sunday, while McLean played in Norwich’s dramatic 4-3 defeat to Bolton at Carrow Road.
