Hibernian have been dealt a fresh blow with news that Rocky Bushiri will miss three months of the season through injury.

The defender was stretchered off during his side’s 3-0 defeat to Hearts in the Scottish Cup last weekend and has undergone a scan to determine the extent of the injury.

Hibs say he is likely to miss the next three months of football and is to see a specialist.

Bushiri said he will concentrate on his recovery and coming back in the best possible shape to continue his progress.

He told the club’s website: “This injury has been difficult for me to get my head around, but I have to stay positive and focus on returning stronger.

“I felt like Hibs fans were starting to see the best of me, so I’m determined to come back an even better player and hope to see all the fans soon.”

The injury adds to selection problems for manager Lee Johnson, with centre back Ryan Porteous on the verge of joining Watford.

“Firstly we’re all gutted for Rocky and wish him a speedy recovery,” Johnson said.

“Rocky is an important player for us, and we felt like he was getting better week on week.

“We will provide him with all the support he needs, rally around him, and help him return fitter and stronger than before.”
