Turkish champions Istanbul Basaksehir have announced the signing of Celtic’s Boli Bolingoli.
The 25-year-old defender has signed for the club on a season-long loan deal, with an option to buy.
Bolingoli was in the spotlight for the wrong reasons last month after he broke Covid rules by travelling to Spain and failing to self-isolate on his return. He then featured in a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock.
Celtic, who had no knowledge of the trip, described his behaviour as “irresponsible” and “beyond explanation”.
The player apologised, as did Celtic, for the breach of protocol but he did not escape punishment from the Scottish FA.
Bolingoli was handed a five game suspension, three matches were immediate and two suspended until next year.
He joined Celtic from Rapid Vienna last summer, but has failed to cement a first-team place at left-back.
Bolingoli said he was “guilty of a major error of judgement” by travelling to Spain.
