A young Rangers fan was injured by a pyrotechnic in the away end during a match against Kilmarnock in Ayrshire on Saturday.
An 11-year-old Gers fan suffered a facial injury due to a pyro incident during their 3-0 win at Rugby Park.
The boy required medical assistance following the incident. Rangers have stated that the injury shows the “very real dangers posed by pyrotechnics”.
The Glasgow club were hit with a suspended reduction of 50 away tickets after they breached rule H37, which relates to unacceptable conduct by supporters, in their opener against Motherwell.
The Gers were also slapped with a €20,000 fine after “fireworks and smoke bombs” were used during their European clash against Club Brugge in August.
A Rangers spokesman said: “We are aware that one of our young supporters was treated by medical staff at Rugby Park on Saturday night, and we were concerned that he required assistance.
“Fortunately, a more serious injury was not sustained, though this incident underlines the very real dangers posed by pyrotechnics.
“We are in contact with his family, and we thank the staff who attended to him. We will continue to offer support in the coming days.
“The club’s position on pyrotechnics is clear. Their continued use is now resulting in sanctions from the football authorities in more than one competition, which inevitably affects the wider support.
“Our priority is keeping supporters safe, and we will continue working with fans to ensure this is the case at every match.”
Police Scotland has confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
A spokesperson said: “During the match at Rugby Park on Saturday, December 6, 2025, an 11-year-old boy was struck by a flare thrown from a section of the ground.
“He was treated for a facial injury by paramedics at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
