Bruce Anderson not worried by Livingston’s league position

Bruce Anderson insists Livingston are not spooked by being bottom of the Premiership because they still feel they are within touching distance of most of their rivals.

The Lions slipped to the foot of the table after losing five games in a row prior to the international break.

However, the congested nature of the division means they are only two points off eighth-placed Motherwell and still just six points adrift of the top six ahead of Saturday’s trip to St Mirren.

“In the Scottish Premiership, the margins are so fine,” said striker Anderson. “One wee mistake and you can lose the three points.

“For example, the last time we played St Mirren we lost a stoppage-time equaliser.

“If you look at little things like that, we could easily be looking at this game in a different way, we could be sixth or seventh in the league. It’s about fine lines.

“We’re seven points off fourth so a couple of wins and we can be right back up there. We’ve got a run of games now where we think we can pick up points so it’s about trying to put a run of wins together as soon as possible.”

Anderson is adamant Livingston’s team spirit remains undiminished amid their recent form dip.

“It’s difficult but the togetherness is still there,” he said. “That’s always been there since I came into the club.

“The strength comes from the team, there are no individuals here. When you go through a wee run like this, it’s important we all stick together.”

Anderson has scored 26 goals for the Lions since joining from Aberdeen in the summer of 2021 – including six earlier this term – but he has found himself among the substitutes on several occasions this season.

“The season started well for me,” he said. “I scored a few goals and managed to get the goals record for the club in the top flight. I’ve been fairly happy but I’m not satisfied. I want to score as many goals as I can.

“I just want to do as well as I can for the club, whether that’s coming off the bench or starting.

“I love scoring goals and I’ve got more chance of doing that if I’m starting games. I just need to keep working hard. If I’m starting, I try my best to help the team, if I come off the bench I try and impact the game in a positive way.”
