Ross County have announced the appointment of Callum Davidson as the club’s new assistant manager.

The former St Johnstone and Queen’s Park boss has been named as new manager Tony Docherty’s right-hand man and will look to help County win promotion back to the Premiership.

Davidson has been working in the media since being sacked as Queen’s Park manager in March after 14 months at the Championship side.

The former Scotland international notably won both the League Cup and Scottish Cup in the same season during his time at St Johnstone.

“I’m delighted to bring Callum to the football club,” Docherty said.

“Callum brings valuable knowledge and experience from a successful playing and management career and will be a hugely important member of the back-room staff.

“We share similar values and ideas relating to the game, and having worked together previously, I’m sure he will have an extremely positive impact and input to the group here.”

After being relegated through the play-offs last season, County have begun their promotion campaign poorly with three defeats and two draws so far leaving them at the bottom of the table. Don Cowie left his position as manager by mutual consent last month before former Dundee boss Docherty was appointed as his successor.
