Celtic have agreed a fee with Lanus for defender Alexandro Bernabei and hope to make him their latest summer signing, STV understands.
The Premiership champions have already signed Cameron Carter-Vickers and Benjamin Siegrist ahead of the new season but manager Ange Postecoglou is looking to make further additions to his squad.
Argentinian left-back Bernabei has been identified as a player the manager believes can help the team progress and negotations with his club have taken place over a transfer.
Lanus and Celtic are understood to have settled on a fee in the region of £3.75m for the left-back.
Scotland international Greg Taylor played in the position for the majority of matches last season as Celtic won the league title and the League Cup.
Bernabei, who is an Argentina Under-19 international, would compete with Taylor for a starting spot and look to continue his development after the 21-year-old played for Lanus in the past three seasons.
Celtic are looking to defend their league title next season and have also qualified directly for the group stage of the Champions League where they will come up against Europe’s elite sides.
