Celtic and Rangers have held initial talks over the possibility of their women’s teams joining the English Super League.
Discussions have taken place regarding the two Glasgow clubs potentially joining the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United in the WSL.
Scotland’s big two clubs have been flourishing in the Scottish Women’s Premier League since turning professional five years ago.
Rangers won the title in 2022 and Celtic are current champions after winning the top-flight last season and then became the first Scottish team to take part in the Women’s Champions League.
They were drawn in a group with Real Madrid, Chelsea and FC Twente and lost all six games to finish bottom of the group but produced some respectable displays including running the current English league leaders close at Celtic Park when they took the lead before losing narrowly in a 2-1 defeat.
Rangers, who finished second in the league last season, were defeated by Arsenal in the qualifying round.
Previously Glasgow City had been the lone dominant force in Scotland and are currently top of the table this season.
However, due to the historical success of the Celtic and Rangers men’s teams and large supports they carry it is those two who are seen as having the most potential.
