Celtic have appointed Grant Scott as the new head coach of their women’s side, replacing Elena Sadiku.
The Glasgow club made their move after Sadiku left to “pursue a new opportunity”, believed to be at BK Hacken, and agreed a fee to sign title-winning boss Scott.
A Hibs statement read: “Hibernian FC Women can confirm that Grant Scott has officially departed his post as head coach after agreeing a contract with Celtic.
“The club has agreed a figure of compensation with the Glasgow club for Scott’s exit.
“During his first spell at Hibernian, Scott presided over a Scottish Cup and League Cup double before departing the club in December 2019.
“Returning in June 2023, he would oversee our first league title success in 18 years as Hibernian lifted the Scottish Women’s Premier League trophy in May 2025.
“Everyone connected with Hibernian would like to thank Scott for the impact he has had on the history of Hibernian FC Women.”
The move comes just a day after Sadiku’s last game in charge, when Celtic defeated Scott’s Hibernian 2-1 in the SWPL.
On making the move, Scott said he was delighted to be taking charge and aims to deliver trophies at his new club.
“It is a huge honour to join Celtic and I look forward to carrying on the great work at the club, to push on and bring even more success to Celtic,” he said.
“I’m excited to join at a time when the new Barrowfield Training Centre is giving our women’s team every opportunity to develop, providing the players and those coming through the academy with the best possible environment to train and come to work each day.
“I have experience of bringing success to clubs and ultimately. This is what we will all strive for again, to ensure that Celtic can be at the very top of the women’s game.”
Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson said: “Everyone at Celtic would like to thank Elena for her historic contribution during a hugely successful period as head coach of our women’s team, creating history by winning the club’s first-ever Scottish Women’s Premier League title and reaching the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage for the first time.
“We would like to wish Elena all the best in her next chapter and all her future endeavours.
“We are now pleased to welcome Grant Scott to Celtic as head coach of our women’s team. Grant brings a strong track record in Scottish women’s football, with proven experience of leading competitive teams and delivering success, most recently guiding Hibernian to their first league title in 18 years last season.
“We believe he is the right person to lead an important next phase of women’s football at Celtic, building on our investment in the new Barrowfield Training Centre to develop high-quality young Scottish players through to the first team. We look forward to welcoming Grant to the club.”
Celtic FC Women’s Operations Manager, Stewart McGuire added: “Elena leaves Celtic, having played a significant role in a period of unprecedented success for our women’s team, and we thank her for her contribution during her time here.
“Her commitment to developing young players has seen several progress from our Girls’ Academy into the first team, which will stand us in good stead in the years ahead.
“Elena will always be welcome at Celtic, and we wish her every success in the next chapter of her career.
“We are delighted to appoint Grant Scott as our new head coach. Grant brings deep knowledge and understanding of Scottish women’s football, having guided Hibernian to their first league title in 18 years in May, and brings valuable experience to the role.
“We look forward to welcoming Grant to the club as he takes charge of the squad and builds on the strong foundations already in place at an exciting time for women’s football at Celtic.”
