Celtic beat Dundee United to go seven points clear at the top of the Premiership

Celtic have moved seven points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership following a 4-2 win over Dundee United in Glasgow.

Dylan Levitt looked like he had earned a point for the visitors on the 87th minute but two late goals earned the champions another late win.

Sead Haskabanovic scored his first two Celtic goals before Dundee United pulled level through a Steven Fletcher penalty and Levitt’s late strike.

But Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada, both brought off the bench in the second half, scored a goal each in injury time to secure a 4-2 win on Saturday.

The pair continue to be a thorn in the Tannadice club’s side after both scoring a hat-trick in the 9-0 win earlier in the season.

Haskabanovic opened the scoring when he turned home from close range to put the hosts 1-0 up after six minutes with his first Celtic goal.

But United were back on level terms shortly after when Steven Fletcher converted a penalty following a hand ball by Bernabei.

In a throwback to Madrid on Wednesday, referee David Dickenson went to the VAR monitor before deciding to give the spot kick and the Argentine full back was also booked.

Giorgos Giakoumakis nearly had the Hoops back in front almost instantly, but his header was stopped by a great save from Mark Birighitti who palmed the effort away from goal.

Haskabanovic then put Celtic back in front just after the half hour as he doubled his Celtic account since joining from Rubin Kazan in the summer.

Giakoumakis, recalled to the team in place of Kyogo Furuhashi, and Turnbull both had chances to add to the lead before half-time but it was still 2-1 when Dickenson blew for the break.

Celtic had the lion’s share of possession and chances in the second half but struggled to find the killer third goal that would have put the win beyond doubt.

And they had Greg Taylor to thank for keeping them in front with ten minutes to go when he cleared a shot off the line before Edwards hit the post from the resulting corner.

All of a sudden Dundee United had a spring in their step and fancied their chances of grabbing an equaliser with a period of possession.

And Dylan Levitt scored the equaliser with three minutes on the clock when he floated a free kick into the area that passed everyone and landed in the corner of Joe Hart’s net.

But then on the last minute of normal time Celtic done what they have done so often over the past couple of seasons and grabbed a late goal to win the game.

This time it was Kyogo Furuhashi with a glancing header to put the league leaders back in front before Liel Abada put the icing on the cake with a great finish for number four.
