Celtic bounce back to winning ways with comfortable Premiership victory over Aberdeen

Celtic have bounced back to winning ways with a resounding victory over Aberdeen on their return to Premiership action.

Yang, Kyogo Furuhashi, Luis Palma, David Turnbull and Oh with a double were all on the scoresheet as the rampant league leaders put on the style and eased to a 6-0 win that keeps their eight point lead at the top in tact.

There may have been concerns that the Hoops would still be suffering a hangover from their Champions League defeat in Madrid, but they showed no signs of letting that get in their way of another three league points and it was one-way traffic for the majority of the 90 minutes.

Aberdeen, who played in Greece in the Conference League on Thursday, barely laid a glove on the champions as they struggled to get into the game.

Joe Hart only had one shot on target to deal with and Robson’s men had a possession rate of around 20% as the home side dominated proceedings from kick-off.

Celtic came into the game looking to make amends for the disappointing night against Atletico and they wasted no time in taking the game to the visitors.

Roos saved from Kyogo early on before Matt O’Riley came close from rebound but fired his shot wide.

It wasn’t long before Yang opened the scoring with a header for his first Celtic goal after a good play and cross from Luis Palma.

Kyogo doubled the lead soon after when he slotted home following good work from O’Riley to make it 2-0.

Roos was called into action again just before half-time when he made a terrific save to keep out a Palma strike that was heading for the top corner.

Celtic continued to dominate possession when the game returned after the break without as many chances being created, and they suffered a blow when Kyogo had to be taken off.

The Japanese talisman suffered a head knock and was replaced by his South Korean understudy Oh.

Luis Palma came close to making it three but he was halted at the last minute by a late Jack MacKenzie tackle.

Willie Collum was called over to the VAR monitor and decided to award the spot-kick to Celtic who had missed their last two.

This time Palma stepped up and expertly dispatched it into the back of the net to make it 3-0 and all but secure the three points would be staying in Glasgow.

Turnbull then put the icing on the cake when he guided a long range effort into the bottom corner of Roos’ goals to make it 4-0.

Deep into injury time Oh got his goal after meeting an exquisite inch perfect cross from the outside of Palma’s boot to make it five.

The South Korea forward then rubbed salt in Aberdeen’s wounds with another goal to make it 6-0.

Celtic remain undefeated in the league this season with eleven wins from their first 13 games and two draws.
