Celtic have finalised the signing of Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny on loan for the remainder of the season.
The right-back comes into Neil Lennon’s squad as a replacement for Jeremie Frimpong, who joined Bayer Leverkusen last week.
Kenny travelled to Glasgow and trained with Celtic on Monday as the details of the deal were completed and he has now been confirmed as the club’s latest signing.
The 23-year-old has made 48 appearances for Everton and spent last season as a regular on loan with Schalke.
Kenny has also played for England at every level except the senior side, including 16 appearances for the under 21s.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference before the deal was confirmed Lennon said he was excited to see Kenny join his group of players.
“He’s a player I have liked for a while,” he said. “He is at Everton obviously and had a very good career at England youth at under-21 level and I watched quite a bit of him last season when he was on loan at Schalke.
“I like his qualities, his enthusiasm for the game, his character and I think he will bring that to the team.
“He is a bubbly sort of personality and he plays that way as well. He is ready to start and itching to play as well.”
