Josip Juranovic is on the verge of leaving Celtic as he travels for a medical ahead of a proposed transfer to Germany.
The 27-year-old is missing today’s Scottish Cup clash against Morton and Ange Postecoglou confirmed pre-game that the right-back is on the move.
Bundesliga side Union Berlin are believed to have had a bid of around £10m accepted for the Croatia international who starred at last year’s World Cup.
Signed from Legia Warsaw in 2021, he has scored six times in 53 appearances and helped the club lift the Premiership and League Cup last season.
Speaking to BBC Scotland ahead of the Scottish Cup game, Postecoglou he is a player that “will be remembered fondly”
He said: “It hasn’t been finalised, but obviously, if all things work out, he’ll be moving on, which is great for him, really pleased for him. For us, he’ll always be remembered fondly as a player that contributed to a special year.”
Celtic moved early to bring in reinforcements with Alistair Johnston, who also played at the World Cup for Canada, signed in December.
Giorgos Giakoumakis is also missing from the Hoops squad for Saturday’s game but Postecoglou insists the striker, who has been heavily linked with a move to Japan, is still suffering from an injury that kept him out of the midweek win over St Mirren.
