Celtic have granted Ange Postecoglou permission to speak to Tottenham Hotspur over their vacant manager’s job.
A meeting with the North London club will take place over the next 24 hours after the Australian informed Celtic of his desire to hold talks with Spurs in the wake of Saturday’s Scottish Cup final victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The 57-year-old – who secured the club’s eighth treble at the weekend – also wants to take number two John Kennedy to England if negotiations are successful.
Work on a replacement is already well under way, STV News understands.
Postecoglou has won five of six available domestic trophies in his two seasons at Celtic, including back-to-back league titles, and has earned praise for his side’s style of play since arriving from Yokohama F Marinos in 2021.
He was named PFA and SWFA manager of the year in each of the last two seasons and will be tasked with guiding Spurs back into European football after the club slipped to an eighth-place finish last season – 11 points off the Champions League places.
He may also be tasked with a similar rebuild to the one carried out at Celtic with reports captain Harry Kane is on the shortlist of Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Spurs originally targeted Feyenoord’s Arne Slot for the role, only for the Eredivisie winner to turn down the job.
Ryan Mason ended the season at Tottenham boss – one of three managers in the North London club’s dugout last season.
He replaced Cristian Stellini, who had been installed as caretaker following the sacking of Conte in March.
